Opera Neon
Overview
The launch film for Opera Neon, Opera’s new AI-driven browser. Instead of a traditional tech demo, we let the browser present itself as a character. The film follows a humanoid AI “browser” – half live-action actor, half generative identity – as it explains how an AI agent thinks, plans and collaborates.
The film has passed 1.8 million views and was covered widely in international tech media.
My contribution
I was AI lead and did most of the VFX work, in close collaboration with director Marc Reisbig, who was hands-on throughout the process.
We shot the actor traditionally, on location with a full crew. Then we used generative AI to transform the lead into a robot and to polish selected shots. Everything was composited in After Effects, where live action, AI-generated elements and digital compositing were stitched together into one hybrid production.

Before / after

Process
Generation was done with Kling, Seedance, Seedream and Nano Banana, with ChatGPT and Gemini as part of the workflow. The film contains more than 30 AI-driven VFX shots, produced in around 40 hours over three to four weeks.
The hard part was keeping a consistent visual identity across generations, matching the real lighting from set with generated material, and preserving continuity between outputs – all while the tools were being updated almost daily. Nobody commented that the VFX was AI-generated. I take that as a sign of quality.
